Carlos Sanchez talks Jovonn gems…

Terence: Terry: label boss at La Vie En Rose, never fails to pluck out only the most talented newcomers, this time in the form of young Gran Canarian Carlos Sanchez. Combine him with one of house music’s long-standing connoisseurs Jovonn, and you have an EP full of quality past inspiration, with a fresh, avant-garde touch.

When my friend and label boss Terence:Terry: told me that Jovonn was confirmed as the remixer for ‘Timeless’, I was waiting like a kid… I’m a big fan of his and it was like…. Yeahh! One of the masters will be remixing of Timeless?!

The result sounds really FAT! The development builds up fast and I am very into the chords and the way he touched both of the synths… Undoubtedly, as usual, Jovonn did a great job!!

…Carlos Sanchez shares with us then some of his favourite all time Jovonn productions, in celebration of the new ‘Timeless’ EP!

I Can’t Make Up My Mind (1993)

The first time I heard this record was in one of Jovonn’s mixes from late 90’s and I fell in love… The whole EP (House Ala Carte) is gorgeous! In fact, I got this record a few weeks ago, it has been re-released again on Classic Cuts. One of my best friends bought this jewel to me in London (Phonica Records). Definitely an amazing gift and of course I’m looking forward to playing this out and feeling the vibe!

Times Runnin Out (1999)

I must say that this record has become one of the tops for me… I bought it in 2004 and since then this record is part of my life and my record bag… One of those timeless tracks!

Spring (2000) – Jovonn & DJ Deep

A dopeness combo of two great masters! I really enjoy playing this wax in small clubs (the smaller the better!). The vibe of the raw chords, the crowd, the groove and the proper sound system is more than enough… and not forgetting… the other releases on this great french label since 1995.

‘Timeless’ EP is out 9th December on La Vie En Rose
