Shonky grew up in Paris, and when he first began to go to clubs in the late 90s, the city was immersed in house music. While studying maths, he began digging deeper into the sounds of the capital, and that’s where his love of spacey, house grooves really stems from. After studying audio engineering and falling in with the Freak ‘n’ Chic crew, he began producing his own tracks and soon was releasing on labels as varied as Mobilee, Crosstown Rebels, Contexterrior, before his debut album Time Zerodropped on Freak ‘n’ Chic. The collection of strange yet cohesive sounds marked Shonky out as a producer with a vision, and dancers around the world began to place themselves in his capable hands. After starting the Apollonia label with Dan Ghenacia and Dyed Soundorom, their brand of quirky, emotive house grooves has put a spell on parties all around the world. Many people will tell you maths and music are closely related, but it’s Shonky’s offbeat humour and the unique lens through which he views the world that make his music so special
