D’julz has to be one of the most consistently strong DJs, producers, label heads and party boys Paris has ever bred! Curating Rex Club’s longest standing night ‘Bass Culture’, it takes some inspiration to keep the line-ups tantalisingly fresh after 16 years, but on 12th October D’julz invites not one, but two, bobby dazzlers!!

Mike Huckaby, a Detroit king of jazzed-out techno and funked-out house, this name in itself is enough to get the underground anoraks panting. Add to the mix London’s legendary but often highly underrated Mr. G and you are most definitely onto a winner.

Comme d’habitude, Mademoiselle H isn’t shy in getting up close and personal when an inimitable music man is involved. So here it is, a few words with disco-dancing Colin. What a G.

MR_G

So hey Colin, how are you feeling about coming to join us in Paris next week to play Rex Club with D’julz??

MY I CAN’T WAIT TO PLAY FOR YA. LOOK! …HEHE

The first thing that will strike anyone who has seen the Mr. G live act is your body-popping, head-rocking moves! Please, share with your infectious energy and describe your favourite dance move? Is there one which gets the crowd wild every time?

THERE IS NO FAVOURITE MOVE, I JUST FREESTYLE. IF I’M HAVING FUN I DANCE, IF NOT??

You have talked previously about your reggae roots and love of ballads being at the very core of what you do….

Give us a favourite reggae track full of low-end phatness to blow the speakers with?

SERIOUS B-LINE

Give us a favourite ballad that will make even Panorama Bar’s tattooed doormen melt at the knees?

NAH I LOVE THOSE DOORMEN THEY GET JUST RIGHT FOR A GREAT CLUB… SO HERE’S A END A NIGHT CHELL TUNE.

Back in the day you used to be the soundboy. If you could have anyone be your soundboy today who would it be and why?

DAM THAT’S A QUESTION… MORTIZ VAN OSWALD, HE KNOWS SO MUCH ABOUT THE LOW END IN MUSIC HE’D BE GREAT TO LEARN FROM AND HE IS A HERO A MINE!

Judging by Facebook you seem to be somewhat of a Japan enthusiast. Partly due to the speaker setup in Womb club but also due to the sushi? Fish heads aside, what’s normally on your sushi bill??

SNOW CLAM, HORSE MACKEREL, FATTY TUNA, OHH AND LOTS OF UMESHU! MY MATE TAKA IN TOKYO KNOWS WHERE IT’S DONE BEST…HAHA

You’ve previously released on D’julz’s label Bass Culture with ‘G’s Spot!’ and ‘Extended Pain’, and D’julz has publicly named you the “bass master”. Do you happily accept this title or not and why?

NAH I JUST DO WHAT I DO, I LOVE BASS SO I’M DRIVEN MORE THAN MOST TO THAT…NICE TITLE THOUGH! HEHEH

Mademoiselle H is loving your new EP ‘VFM’ out on your label Phoenix G. Just one question – what or who let you down (badly)?

MMMM A FRIEND I WENT TO PLAY FOR IN DETROIT, PROMISED THE EARTH AND DELIVERED ZERO…THAT SHIT HURT LIKE HELL.

BECAUSE A THAT I NOW TAKE NOTHING OR ANYONE FOR GRANTED (LIVE AND LEARN).

And finally, any juicy forthcoming news (professionally or personally) that you want to exclusively share with Mademoiselle H??

NEW BASS CULTURE EP

NEW HOLIC TRAXX EP

NEW PHOENIX G EP

NEW OLD MAIMI 12

2/3 NEW REMIXES

JUST KEEPING MY HEAD DOWN AND GOING WITH THE FLOW, SEEMS I GOT ALOT IN THERE TO RELEASE…
